I love the crisp chilly fall air, all because it makes detox bath time that much more enticing! I want to share one of the easiest ways I detox and rid my body of toxins. Unfortunately, dangerous toxins are abundant in our modern environments. Let’s give our beautiful hard working bodies a much needed break!
Take a bath using my easy detox bath tips just once or twice a week. Your immune system will thank you. I always feel better in 20 minutes, no joke!

The bath I swear by:
Vitamin C: Vitamin C is obviously great for the immune system, but it can also work to neutralize chlorine in our bath water. Need I say more about why this is so important? Didn’t think so ; ) I prefer Sodium Ascorbate Crystals (I like this brand), but you can use Ascorbic Acid crystals as well. I use about one teaspoon in my baths.
Epsom Salt or Magnesium Flakes: Both are an amazing natural source of minerals, including magnesium and sulfate. Magnesium plays a critical role in the human body, it helps to improve muscle and nerve function, reduces inflammation, improves blood flow and oxygenation. Sulfates aid in healthful joints, skin and nervous tissue. The combination helps to flush toxins from your body through reverse osmosis. I use one cup Epsom Salt in my baths.
Baking Soda: Or Sodium Bicarbonate, is another helpful mineral that will help alkalize your bath water, your skin and the rest of your body. It soothes irritated skin and relieves itching as well. Studies have shown that it is both healing and preventative in regard to dis-ease. Good news is that it’s cheap and most of you probably have it on hand. Score! I usually add about 3 tbsp’s of baking soda to my baths.
Thieves Oil: Ok, so you may not have this on hand, but I swear by it. This is an incredible immune boosting essential oil blend based on a neat legend, apparently four 15th century thieves covered themselves in a mixture of herbs and spices to mask the stench as they robbed plague victims. I’m sure it helped, but they actually staved off the plague by doing this! The king did not hang them in exchange for this secret!! Say what…?! Thieves contains Clove, Lemon Peel, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary oils. For more info or to order, click here. You won’t regret it! I use only 3-4 drops of the oil in each bath – a little goes a long way!
As the water is running, add the Vitamin C crystals first, let them absorb in the water for 3 minutes. Next add the baking soda, the Epsom salt and lastly the essential oil. Let the water run a little more so that everything mixes nicely. I usually read and listen to classical music in the bath for about 20-30 minutes, but no longer than that! Once you get out DRINK PLENTY OF WATER (at least two cups). I always rub my body down with fractionated coconut oil (I like this brand) mixed with an essential oil of your choice. I use either lavender, peppermint or frankincense, ONE DROP is enough. The reading, music and rub down are not mandatory, but highly recommended.
