Start From Where You Are!

here

Here’s the thing. You are where you are in life. Accept that part. Done. Now start from there. You may not think about the direction of your life. Maybe you are just humming along or maybe you are unhappy in your path. The wonderful news is that you are here and it’s never too late to alter your course and change that direction. Start from where you are today!

If you are fulfilled, happy and living a passionate life, there are still things you can do to better yourself, right? We never stop working on ourselves because that’s kinda the point.

With some well worth it effort, you get to keep becoming the best version of yourself. You must choose to learn, grow and alter your life based on your experiences and the experiences you want to have. You know the old adage, do what you have always done and get what you have always gotten or make changes.  Change what you do and move forward with intention and away from old habits that no longer suit you.

you-are-here

I completely understand a general sense of overwhelm, I have hidden and run from things out of fear that lead me to adopt a go with the flow attitude until I was blowin’ in the wind, like a rolling stone…no direction home. Thanks Bob Dylan! However, that nagging in my gut never disappeared just because I ignored it. It followed me until I looked at it, accepted it and started walking in the right direction for me. You can find some sort of vice and temporarily numb the nagging but it will always be there, a skeleton in your closet and you’ll be no closer to where you are truly meant to be.

What I love: the arts, performing, health and wellness (looking and feeling my best), genuine connection with others, finding inspiration all around me and learning to inspire others. I work toward those goals every day, even if it’s a small step. I feel immensely more fulfilled in the day to day actions just knowing I am on my own path to enlightenment. Now that I can feel myself heading in the right direction, my soul feels more at ease and I am excited about the future.

lilballerinaIf you don’t know what you want in life, think back to when you were a kid, what did you love? It’s a good starting point to find your passion and possibly a new direction in life. If you can’t think of anything, it’s OK…try things! Only by doing will you know what you like and what you don’t.

*HINT: step outside of your comfort zone!

If there is something you love, that you can’t stop thinking about, it will be worth it to move in that direction. Start small, but start now, from right where you are. You can’t wait until you feel ready, until you get a raise, quit your job, lose weight…you could be waiting forever.

Don’t wait any longer, start from right where you are!

What I did:

  1. I bought this domain name – two years ago. It was a step.
  2. I started dancing again. I got into Pole Fitness, fell in love and started performing.
  3. I started making earrings and painting again, both of which I sell!
  4. I auditioned for and was accepted into the Premier Burlesque Group Velours Rouge in North County San Diego.
  5. I started taking Ballet classes, my kind of Barre!
  6. I reformatted my website, so that I can blog, share and inspire.
  7. I started using my Social Media platforms in a more creative and inspiring format.

These things have propelled my life in a whole new direction and I want the same for you! Do what you have always wanted to do. Failure is sometimes necessary but there is always a lesson there. What you don’t want is regret. Put yourself out there and the more the universe will guide you. Don’t make excuses for yourself. Don’t go sit in bars 3 nights a week (ballet barres are allowed) and waste your time. Start working toward something that will bring you alive! Most importantly, wherever you are…you can start from there! Will you??

Now…go my darling! <3

bath-time

Herbs, Spices and Crystals…oh my! The best Detox Bath. Ever.

I love the crisp chilly fall air, all because it makes detox bath time that much more enticing! I want to share one of the easiest ways I detox and rid my body of toxins. Unfortunately, dangerous toxins are abundant in our modern environments. Let’s give our beautiful hard working bodies a much needed break!

Take a bath using my easy detox bath tips just once or twice a week. Your immune system will thank you. I always feel better in 20 minutes, no joke!

*Safety First: If you are pregnant, have cardiovascular disease, are dehydrated or have open wounds consult with a natural health physician before starting.

The bath I swear by:

Vitamin C: Vitamin C is obviously great for the immune system, but it can also work to neutralize chlorine in our bath water. Need I say more about why this is so important? Didn’t think so ; ) I prefer Sodium Ascorbate Crystals (I like this brand), but you can use Ascorbic Acid crystals as well. I use about one teaspoon in my baths.

epsom-salt

Epsom Salt or Magnesium Flakes: Both are an amazing natural source of minerals, including magnesium and sulfate. Magnesium plays a critical role in the human body, it helps to improve muscle and nerve function, reduces inflammation, improves blood flow and oxygenation. Sulfates aid in healthful joints, skin and nervous tissue. The combination helps to flush toxins from your body through reverse osmosis. I use one cup Epsom Salt in my baths.

Baking Soda: Or Sodium Bicarbonate, is another helpful mineral that will help alkalize your bath water, your skin and the rest of your body. It soothes irritated skin and relieves itching as well. Studies have shown that it is both healing and preventative in regard to dis-ease. Good news is that it’s cheap and most of you probably have it on hand. Score! I usually add about 3 tbsp’s of baking soda to my baths.

thieves2

Thieves Oil: Ok, so you may not have this on hand, but I swear by it. This is an incredible immune boosting essential oil blend based on a neat legend, apparently four 15th century thieves covered themselves in a mixture of herbs and spices to mask the stench as they robbed plague victims. I’m sure it helped, but they actually staved off the plague by doing this! The king did not hang them in exchange for this secret!! Say what…?! Thieves contains Clove, Lemon Peel, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary oils. For more info or to order, click here. You won’t regret it! I use only 3-4 drops of the oil in each bath – a little goes a long way!

As the water is running, add the Vitamin C crystals first, let them absorb in the water for 3 minutes. Next add the baking soda, the Epsom salt and lastly the essential oil. Let the water run a little more so that everything mixes nicely. I usually read and listen to classical music in the bath for about 20-30 minutes, but no longer than that! Once you get out DRINK PLENTY OF WATER (at least two cups). I always rub my body down with fractionated coconut oil (I like this brand) mixed with an essential oil of your choice. I use either lavender, peppermint or frankincense, ONE DROP is enough. The reading, music and rub down are not mandatory, but highly recommended.

Don’t miss my post dedicated to essential oils <3

Pumpkin Pancakes – Skip the Gluten and Dairy, keep the YUM!

SINCE it’s fall, rainy and almost Halloween….I am sharing this recipe that I have been perfecting for months. I am now gluten and dairy free but LOVE pancakes. I just had to figure this out, with a little patience and perseverance, I did it! These are simple to make, delicious, healthy and fluffy! BONUS: Homemade Coconut Whipped Cream recipe below. You’re welcome!

Pumpkin Pancake Ingredients:

1 Egg

2 tbsp Organic Canned Pumpkin

1 tbsp Coconut Flour

1 tbsp Flax Meal

1 tbsp Protein Powder

1 tbsp  GROUND Coconut Flakes

1 heaping tbsp Sunflower Seed Butter

1/4 cup Almond Milk

1/2 tbsp Maple Syrup

1/2 tbsp Coconut Sugar

1/4 tsp Baking Soda

1/2 tsp Baking Powder

Pinch of Sea Salt

Spices: Cinnamon, Clove, Ginger, Nutmeg

I usually whisk the eggs first, so they are frothy and then stir everything else in. I spoon the mixture into my pan, make them whatever size you like. They take just a little bit longer than regular pancakes. Cook the first side on medium-low heat for about 5 minutes and then flip, cook for another 3-5 minutes. This recipe makes about 4-5 pancakes. For two people double everything!

BONUS! Coconut Whipped Cream:

1 can of full fat Coconut Milk

1 tsp Vanilla

Sweetener: I use honey or Coconut Sugar to taste (approx. 1 tsp)

Place the can in the fridge overnight, the coconut fat will raise to the top. Once removed, open the can and spoon out the thick white layer on top. Add vanilla and choice sweetener…beat until fluffy and top your pancakes! YUM!
